Waldwick is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey with a population of 9,625. The area was once inhabited by the Lenni Lenape Native Americans before European settlers made their way to the area in 1610. In 1924, the Nieuw Amsterdam colony was built on the land that is now known as the Waldwick borough and became Dutch possession along with the rest of the northeastern New Jersey area. Dutch settlers sparsely developed the area between 1624-1664 for agricultural purposes.
